Republican Valley Arts Council
Republican Valley Arts Council (RVAC) is incorporated under the Nebraska Non-Profit Corporation Act. Is is its purpose to act as a coordinating, education and service organization to foster, promote, encourage and increase the knowledge, appreciation and practice of the arts of the Republican Valley in Nebraska. The organization seeks members to direct and help promote projects sponsored by RVAC and others which the officers and board of directors deem of merit. An annual membership drive is held each March when new members are welcomed and the projects for the year are outlined. In 2003, RVAC sponsored successful projects: Volunteer's Orientation Social at the Red Cloud Opera House; a spring bake sale; Traveling Lantern theater presentations; Sidewalk Chalk Art during Street Car Days and various other presentations at the Red Cloud Opera House. Continuing into the spring of 2004, RVAC sponsored receptions at opera house performances; are planning the membership drive; a community theater, "Steel Magnolias"; "Class Act," which is an alumni program during Memorial Weekend; and will continue to help with Streetcar Day events in the summer. Spring of 2005 the membership program "Victorian Lady" presented by Susan McLain, owner of Yesterday's Lady, and the lovely voices of "Trying Trio". RVAC has a total of nearly 75 members and welcomes couples or individuals to join and become a part of making viable communities of the area it represents with exposure to the varied arts. |
